We contacted Maëlys Cantreau so that she could explain more in detail her background and her inspirations for her drawings.

Hello Maëlys, can you introduce yourself in a few words?

Hello, my name is Maëlys Cantreau and I am an illustrator-graphic designer.

Passionate about drawing since I was little, I pursue my dreams by making this passion my job. After many pencil strokes and many efforts, I obtain a Bachelor’s degree as well as a Master’s from the Lyon drawing school "Emile Cohl" in the field of Publishing.

Finally graduated, I had several experiences in the world of education (drawing and sculpture teacher), communication as well as graphics, to finally start my own business in May 2020 as an illustrator-graphic designer.

I am also a musician and passionate about traveling. Each of these cultural and artistic discoveries have been sources of inspiration for my creations.

Do you have any particular inspirations for making your drawings?

Of a curious and sensitive nature, I am inspired by different artistic universes: Street-Art, tattooing, classical (with artists like Miro, Klimt, Dali, Warhol,...), cartoon, video game,...
