Laurie's little world
Laurie Fabre is an illustrator from Lyon, and has designed the Mademoiselle Paon, L'Effet Papillon and Emerald sets for Sioou.

When asked about her career path, she tells us that she went to New Zealand to take stock of her professional and personal life. On her return to France, she discovered that she wanted to set up her own business, and has been a freelance graphic designer ever since.

Laurie in New Zealand
Laurie is heavily influenced by the lowbrow style, a pictorial art movement that emerged in Los Angeles, California, in the late 1970s. This style is characterized by the reappropriation of codes from popular media such as comics, graffiti or advertising, as well as anything not considered to belong to the world of classical “fine art”.
“It's street-art version surrealist and fantastic, like what the Spacejunk association does, which have two galleries in Lyon.”
Here are a few examples:

Her inspirations come “all the time, when I'm out and about, from all the elements of life, especially the exhibitions that I go to see whenever I get the chance...”.
The most gratifying thing is to be able to create freely.
What emerges from her work is a need for nature and the omnipresence of women. But she's not necessarily trying to get a message across: "For me, it's a way of freeing my mind and letting my imagination do the talking. Art is an outlet.

Her newborn daughter has turned her life upside down, and this is reflected in her work:
I see a world that's a bit more... carefree (laughs). There's a bit more anthropomorphism, it's kinder.
