Who is hiding behind our Sioou Advent Calendar?

Who is hiding behind our Sioou Advent Calendar?

This year, we wanted to offer 24 exclusive temporary tattoos not part of our collection, these are designs imagined for a mother/daughter duo. These are contained in 24 kraft pouches numbered from 1 to 24. We have chosen to store them in a pretty "Conte Hivernal" themed box with petals closures. The illustration and patterns have been completely drawn by our artist Audrey Suau.

But who is this superb artist? We invite you to discover her in this interview below:

- Hello Audrey, can you introduce yourself?

Hello, I am an illustrator and a Lyonnaise :) I love drawing since I was very little (you could find me either with my nose in a book or doodling as soon as I found a piece of paper). I started my career in interior architecture before turning to the profession of my dreams, illustration. I love drawing: flowers, women, birds, children, quite feminine or cute things.  I have 3 children who are a great source of inspiration on a daily basis (and sometimes also fatigue;) )

- Can you tell us about your style?

It’s always hard to talk about oneself but I was told several times that my illustrations were colorful, full of life and had a magical side. I work digitally, and I like working with textures and small details. I often add flowers, and little hearts a bit

everywhere, it’s my girly side!

- Can you explain to us how the illustration and tattoos of the Advent Calendar were designed?

First, I tried to respond as best as possible to the brief, to capture the universe, the desired atmosphere and which stuck to the image of Sioou. Then thinking about Christmas, about winter, I had a palette of colors that came to my mind and from which I was. I thought of a winter landscape, with wild animals, snowy trees... And winter always makes me think of the robins that I particularly like.

I drew the tattoos in parallel.  I wanted to make several and very different ones, very feminine tattoos, black and white, color, cabbage illustrations for young and old. I drew as if it were for me, what I would like to have as a tattoo: a peony my favorite flower, a unicorn because I love drawing unicorns (who doesn’t like unicorns?!) etc. And I widened my mind a little more for others. I also tried to find the universe of the illustration of the box in some tattoos...

- Do you have any other plans for the future?

I work mainly for publishing and youth press, but not only. The easiest way to discover my news (and things to appear) is to follow me on my Instagram account :)
